Andy Fraher
Position Running For: Prescott Unified School District #1 Board
Political Party: Independent
-
School Board members must have the best interests of students at heart in what we do. We are not, and cannot be, political in this most important job of overseeing our public school system. Our students and community deserve to have Board Members who work for the benefit of the students and families of our District, and not for the gain of any political party or group.
-
I was elected to the PUSD #1 School Board in November of 2020 and have served since.
-
I do not currently serve on any other boards, committees, commissions, or political groups. My focus is on the PUSD #1 School Board.
-
51 years. I was born in Prescott and lived here through 1988. I then spent about 9 years in other places, before returning to Prescott in 1997.
-
Improving the investment in public education in PUSD and Arizona. Public schools are the foundation of our community. Our students need to be supported with outstanding resources, staff, and facilities to learn at the highest levels, and we must do everything we can to utilize our resources wisely, efficiently, and with great care. We must also push to improve funding for our schools to make them the best option for our students and families.
-
I am running for re-election to the PUSD #1 School Board because I believe in the transformative power of education and its critical role in shaping the future of our community. My commitment to education is deeply personal, with over 20 immediate family members involved in various educational roles. Having served on the PUSD Governing Board since 2020, including as Board President in 2023, I know what an impact dedicated leadership can have in our schools.
-
I am very proud of the growth and development of the Career and Technical Education programs in PUSD during my time in office. Our schools have the highest enrollment of any local school district in these vital programs that provide workforce education for our students at no charge to them or their families.
-
Consistency: providing consistent education across all grade levels to ensure students are meeting standards and performing to their highest abilities.
Continuity: retaining our employees so that our students know what to expect year over year from their teachers and support staff.
Community: ensuring our students are supported and sent out into the world prepared to build our magnificent community. Also, to encourage our families and District residents support and promote our schools. -
I would like to see our state provide the resources for public education so that we no longer at the bottom of the US in education funding.
-
I would like to see our student achievement scores trend upward in all areas, particularly middle school math. I also would like to see our community galvanize around our schools to ensure that our student's needs are being met every day.
-
Students in PUSD deserve leaders who care about our entire community, and support our students and families wherever they are at in their lives. PUSD must continue to live up to it's motto of Every Child, Every Day by accepting and supporting all of our community in their educational journey, whether that be as a college-bound student or as a career focused student.
